About the DD-F Series

The DanVex DD-F Series is a range of compact ducted dehumidifiers for residential and small-commercial environments where a single concealed unit must deliver humidity control, fresh-air intake and high-grade filtration together. Capacity runs from 32 L/day (DD-36F) to 155 L/day (DD-136F) with supply airflow of 410–1150 m³/h — all on single-phase 220–230 V, with no need for a three-phase supply.

Every unit is built around a two-inlet / one-outlet airflow architecture: one duct for recirculated return air from the room, and a second for fresh outdoor-air intake controlled by an automatic valve. The two streams mix inside the unit, pass through a G4 pre-filter and a HEPA H13 final filter, are dehumidified, sterilised by a UV lamp and delivered through a single supply outlet. A 5-in-1 sensor on the return stream continuously monitors CO₂, PM2.5, TVOC, humidity and temperature — the unit adjusts the fresh-air valve and operating mode to indoor air quality, not just the humidity set-point.

Each unit pairs an inverter compressor with an inverter fan (Full Inverter) and an electronic expansion valve (EEV) — compressor and fan continuously adjust output to the actual load and stabilise airflow, while the EEV meters refrigerant precisely for peak circuit efficiency. For quiet operation the housing uses pyramid-profile acoustic insulation that absorbs compressor vibration rather than merely containing it. Standard across the range: Hot Gas Defrost, E-Coating, internal Antifungus treatment, R-32 refrigerant and Modbus RTU RS-485 + Wi-Fi connectivity. The Ultra-Slim housing installs invisibly in the ceiling void — only the grilles show in the finished room. Slide-out module maintenance. In conventional dehumidifiers, maintenance becomes a problem once faults begin: repair usually means calling an expensive licensed specialist for refrigerant-containing equipment, electrical and brazing work (not permitted everywhere), or removing the whole unit. The DD-F is designed to make repair simple: the compressor, main control board, heat exchangers and refrigerant piping sit together in a single slide-out cassette that pulls out of the housing for service, repair or replacement. Fresh-air management — the full explanation

The defining feature of the DD-F Series — versus the DD Series and conventional dehumidifiers — is the automatic fresh-air valve paired with the 5-in-1 sensor. This section explains how it works, why it matters and where its limits lie.

Two inlets, one outlet. Every unit has two air inlets and one supply outlet. The first inlet (200 mm round duct) draws return air from the room; the second (150 mm) draws fresh outdoor air through a separate external wall connection. Inside the unit an automatic motorised damper varies the mix of recirculation and outdoor air. The combined stream passes through G4, then HEPA H13, then the evaporator coil (dehumidification), then the UV lamp and anion generator (purification), and is delivered through the 200 mm outlet.

CO₂-driven. The sensor measures CO₂ concentration continuously. When the threshold is exceeded (typical residential setting 800–1000 ppm; clinical 600–800 ppm), the damper opens to admit outdoor air and dilute CO₂ below the threshold. When it falls, the damper closes — recirculation only, with no unnecessary outdoor heating or cooling load. Threshold values are adjustable via the digital controller and the Wi-Fi app.

What does it replace? Without the DD-F, a comparable result requires three separate systems: a standalone dehumidifier, an energy-recovery ventilator (ERV) for fresh-air intake and a HEPA-grade air purifier. The DD-F integrates all three functions in one ceiling unit — single-phase supply, one 200 mm supply duct, one set of grilles in the room.

Fresh air or recirculation — your choice. The DD-F works as a fresh-air supply unit or as a pure recirculation dehumidifier. For recirculation-only operation, select dehumidification mode and leave the outdoor duct unconnected or keep the damper closed: the unit draws room air, dehumidifies it, filters it through HEPA and returns it — with no outdoor-air intake and its loads. Useful where a separate ventilation system handles fresh air, where outdoor air quality is temporarily poor, or where minimum energy consumption is the priority. Switching to fresh-air mode is simply opening the damper and selecting automatic mode. Manual override: the valve can be set manually — fully closed for maximum energy efficiency in harsh outdoor conditions, fully open for purge ventilation, or at a fixed position for a defined air-change rate.

What is the ideal indoor humidity level for a home?
The generally accepted comfort range for residential indoor air is 40–55% relative humidity, with a slight seasonal variation. Below 30% RH eyes, throat and skin dry out and the respiratory mucosa lose their protective function. Above 60% RH dust mites multiply rapidly, mould growth accelerates on cold surfaces and the perceived temperature feels degrees higher than actual. The ASHRAE 55 thermal-comfort standard recommends keeping relative humidity between 30% and 60%. For allergy-sensitive household members (asthma, dust-mite allergy) the target is the lower end — 40–45% — with HEPA-grade filtration. Why do modern homes need fresh-air ventilation in addition to dehumidification?
Modern homes built to energy-efficiency standards are deliberately airtight — high-performance insulation, sealed envelopes and triple glazing reduce heat loss but also reduce natural air exchange. Typical new construction achieves 0.3–0.6 air changes per hour through infiltration, versus 1–2 in pre-1990s buildings. What is the difference between a dehumidifier and an air conditioner for humidity control?

An air conditioner primarily cools the air; as warm humid air passes over its cold evaporator, water condenses and drains away. But its humidity control is approximate: it cycles on temperature, not humidity; when the set-point is reached the compressor stops and humidity drift resumes.
