About the range

Ducted dehumidification is a class of equipment installed out of sight — in a ceiling void, service shaft or plant area — and connected to the served space through ductwork; in the finished room the unit is invisible. Unlike portable and wall-mounted units, a ducted unit is part of the building services: it draws return air through one or more inlets, dehumidifies and filters the flow, and delivers dry air through one or more supply outlets. It is the standard solution wherever aesthetics, acoustic comfort or controlled multi-room distribution matter — residential interiors, commercial premises, healthcare, food production halls and large-volume industrial environments.

DanVex organises ducted dehumidification into three complementary series. The DD Series covers high-capacity commercial and industrial applications from 140 to 960 L/day on three-phase 380–415 V, with E-Coating heat-exchanger protection for aggressive environments. The DD-F Series is the compact residential and small-commercial line: 32–155 L/day on single-phase 220–230 V, with an automatic fresh-air valve (blending outdoor intake with recirculation) and HEPA H13 filtration for spaces with high air-quality requirements. The DD-FX Series is a full climate-control system: a split architecture (indoor unit + outdoor condenser) combining ducted dehumidification with heat-pump heating and cooling, adiabatic humidification and three-stage filtration up to HEPA H13.

Engineering standards across the range

Several engineering decisions are shared by every model in all three series — the things that define a DanVex ducted unit regardless of series:

Full Inverter + EEV

Full Inverter technology pairs an inverter compressor with an inverter-controlled fan and an electronic expansion valve (EEV). Compressor and fan continuously adjust output to the actual load and stabilise airflow, while the EEV meters refrigerant precisely — keeping the refrigerant circuit at peak efficiency and capacity across the whole operating range.

Concealed Ultra-Slim housing

A compact format designed for installation in ceiling voids and plant areas. The unit disappears into the building structure; only the intake and supply grilles are visible in the finished room. The robust powder-coated steel housing also allows outdoor installation where required.

Positive-pressure drainage

The condensate system works under positive pressure: it prevents water standing in the unit and drain line, eliminates air locks and stagnant zones, and blocks sewer odours entering through the drain in case of a faulty connection.

Modbus RTU RS-485 + Wi-Fi

Two independent remote-control channels on every model: Modbus RTU RS-485 for BMS and SCADA integration, and Wi-Fi for control and monitoring via the app. Auto-restart keeps all settings after a power failure.

5-in-1 air sensor

A built-in return-air sensor measures CO₂, PM2.5, TVOC, relative humidity and temperature. The unit automatically adapts its operation to the indoor air quality, not just the humidity set-point — without manual intervention.

UV + Anion + Antifungus

Internal UV lamp with antimicrobial Antifungus treatment keep the environment inside the unit and air paths sterile, preventing biofilms and microbial growth. The anion generator enriches the supply air with negative ions for a fresher indoor feel.

Digital controller

A touch-screen controller shows operating mode, sensor readings, fault diagnostics and set-points — humidity, temperature and fresh-air valve position where applicable. A filter-replacement timer alerts the operator to scheduled maintenance.

What is a ducted dehumidifier and how does it differ from a portable unit?
A ducted dehumidifier is a dehumidification unit installed out of sight — in a ceiling void, plant room or service shaft — and connected to one or more rooms through ductwork. It draws return air through an extract duct, removes moisture and returns dry air through a supply duct; in the finished interior it is invisible, with only intake and supply grilles showing. A portable unit stands in the room as an exposed cabinet, draws and discharges air in the same space, and is designed for occasional use or a single room. Ducted units are the standard choice for permanent multi-room installations, large commercial and industrial areas, healthcare and food production, and any environment where aesthetics, acoustic comfort or distribution flexibility are part of the specification.
What humidity level should I maintain in my space?
Industry-standard relative-humidity targets differ by application: residential 40–55% (30–40% in winter against window condensation, 40–50% in summer); indoor pool halls 50–60% (above 60% chlorine off-gassing rises sharply); wine and champagne cellars 55–70% (cork preservation); museums, archives and libraries 45–55% with ±5% stability (paper and wood preservation); server rooms and data centres 40–55% (ASHRAE TC 9.9); food production 45–65% depending on product (lower for dry goods, higher for fermentation rooms); plant growing 60–70% in vegetation and 40–55% in flowering; medical clinics 30–60% (ASHRAE 170). Below 30% RH the respiratory mucosa dry out; above 65% mould risk rises and dust mites thrive. The right unit is sized by moisture load, not by floor area alone — the latent load is calculated from starting and target humidity, ceiling height, air-change rate and process moisture sources.
How do I size a ducted dehumidifier for my project?
Correct sizing relies on the total latent moisture load of the project, not on floor area alone. The key variables: (1) starting and target humidity — the wider the gap, the more capacity is needed; (2) ceiling height and total volume — the total conditioned cubic metres; (3) air-change rate — building tightness and the volume of outdoor-air infiltration; (4) moisture sources — people (40–70 g/h per person), open water surfaces, process moisture, plant transpiration, cooking, laundry; (5) outdoor design conditions — peak summer humidity and temperature; (6) target temperature — condensation-unit capacity falls below +20 °C. Area rules of thumb are useful for first screening only. For commercial and industrial projects the correct calculation is a full moisture-load calculation by a qualified HVAC engineer: pass DanVex the project data; the dealer network, including the UAE with the Dubai warehouse, assists with selection.
What is the difference between condensation and adsorption dehumidifiers?
Both remove moisture from air, but by different physics. Condensation dehumidifiers (compressor and refrigerant cycle) cool air below its dew point; water condenses on the evaporator coil and drains away. They are efficient at +15…+35 °C with targets above 35–40% RH; below +5 °C or below 35% RH their efficiency drops sharply because the dew point falls below the coil's practical temperature. They cover the vast majority of commercial and residential applications — all DanVex ducted units (DD, DD-F, DD-FX) work this way. Adsorption dehumidifiers pass air through a silica-gel rotor that binds water vapour chemically, then release it in a separate hot regeneration stream. They work down to −20 °C and reach targets below 20% RH, at a higher energy cost per litre. Adsorption is the choice for cold storage, low-dew-point industrial drying, clean pharmaceutical processes and ice rinks. For the standard commercial and industrial range at room temperature with a 40–65% target, condensation dehumidifiers (DanVex DD, DD-F, DD-FX, DEH-K, DEH-i and DEH-WP) are more efficient and cheaper to run. What is HEPA H13 and when do I need it?
HEPA filters (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) are classified under the European standard EN 1822 in grades H10 to H14 by efficiency at MPPS (the most penetrating particle size, typically 0.1–0.3 μm). H13 captures at least 99.95% of MPPS particles in a single pass — including PM2.5, pollen, mould spores, most bacteria and part of viral aerosols. H13 is the standard for allergy-sensitive environments, dental and medical clinics, IT and server rooms where fine dust harms equipment, and any space with measurable air-quality requirements. Lower grades — F7 (common in commercial HVAC), F9 and H11 — catch coarser dust and let fine particles through; higher grades (H14 and ULPA) are for operating theatres and biological cleanrooms. In the DanVex ducted range, HEPA H13 is standard in the DD-F Series and on most DD-FX models; the DD Series uses G4 + F7 for industrial high-airflow applications where HEPA is not the design driver — where required, a HEPA stage is fitted downstream of the DD unit as a separate filter section in the ductwork.
Does the dehumidifier integrate with a building management system (BMS)?
Yes — modern ducted units integrate with BMS and SCADA platforms over industrial communication protocols. The dominant protocol in commercial and industrial buildings is Modbus RTU RS-485, a wired serial bus and the most widely supported industrial protocol in the world. Most BMS platforms — Siemens Desigo, Schneider EcoStruxure, Honeywell Niagara, JCI Metasys, Carel BOSS — support Modbus natively without a protocol gateway. A typical integration exposes: operating mode (on/off/auto), measured values (humidity, temperature, CO₂, PM2.5, TVOC), set-points, fault codes, run-hours, filter-replacement status and remote control. All DanVex ducted units (DD, DD-F, DD-FX) ship with Modbus RTU RS-485 as standard, plus Wi-Fi for app monitoring. Full Modbus register maps and integration notes are available to qualified contractors on request.
Do ducted units require professional installation?
Yes — ducted units require professional HVAC installation in all cases, across three separate trades. (1) Mechanical installation: mounting in the ceiling void or plant area, connecting return and supply ducts (and the outdoor-air intake on fresh-air models), connecting the condensate drain — usually the HVAC contractor. (2) Electrical connection: a certified electrician — single-phase 220–230 V or three-phase 380–415 V by model, with circuit protection to the local code and proper earth-leakage protection. (3) Refrigerant connection (Split models such as the DanVex DD-FX only): a qualified, certified refrigeration technician — evacuation, leak testing and commissioning of the refrigerant lines between the units. After installation the unit runs autonomously on its own sensors and set-points. DIY installation is not recommended even on plug-and-play single-phase models: mis-sized ductwork, missing drain slope and inadequate supply lead to lost performance, water damage or equipment failure.
