A range of adsorption dehumidifiers from 0.6 to 3 kg/h (14.4–72 kg/day) on standard single-phase 220–230 V. For cold storage, archives, museums, bank vaults, secure storage, small pharmaceutical rooms, restoration workshops and specialised manufacturing — applications where size, single-phase supply or quiet operation rule out a three-phase industrial unit. Standard across the range: a Proflute silica-gel rotor, an AISI 304 stainless-steel housing, IP44 protection, a G3 filter (EN 779:2012), a two-fan design with regeneration duct, < 45–65 dB noise and Modbus RTU RS-485 connectivity for direct BMS integration.

About the AD Compact Series

The AD Compact Series brings adsorption dehumidification to installations where the strengths of adsorption technology — sub-zero operation, drying to very low humidity and no need for a drain — must fit in a small package on a standard single-phase socket. Housings are AISI 304 stainless steel: corrosion-resistant, hygienic and durable for cold-storage and restoration environments. Compact dimensions (from 442×292×678 mm on the AD-200 to 578×420×867 mm on the AD-550) allow concealed installation in service ceilings, plant rooms and adjacent spaces. Noise levels — < 45 dB (AD-200), < 50 dB (AD-400) and < 65 dB (AD-550) — keep the units acceptable in occupied and semi-occupied spaces: conservation laboratories, small pharmaceutical rooms, plant rooms.

The three models are ducted by design — the process and regeneration ducts connect to the housing (Ø 80 mm on the AD-200, Ø 100 mm on the AD-400, Ø 125 mm on the AD-550) — so the installation integrates into the room's air-handling scheme rather than standing free. Modbus RTU RS-485 connectivity is standard equipment: an AD Compact unit installed in a heritage archive or a small pharmaceutical laboratory is visible from the facility BMS without additional gateways. The silica-gel rotor is from Proflute — the same rotor manufacturer used across the AD Industrial line, in Compact-class sizes.

Key technologies — at a glance

Proflute silica-gel rotor

The rotor is from Proflute — one of the two leading European manufacturers of adsorption rotors. Stable performance at design conditions, a predictable adsorption curve and a 5–8-year life in non-corrosive service with regeneration below 140 °C. Every project is sized in the original Proflute software.

Two-fan design

Independent process and regeneration fans. Regeneration air is drawn from outdoors, and the dried room stays at neutral pressure — no untreated outdoor air pulled in, and no erosion of actual drying capacity as in single-fan configurations.

AISI 304 stainless-steel housing

Corrosion-resistant, hygienic and durable enough for cold-storage and restoration environments. Acceptable in installations near food and pharmaceuticals without additional coating. Keeps its appearance and structural integrity through years of continuous service.

IP44 protection

Splash protection from all directions. The housing is rated for installations with periodic wash-down or condensation exposure (cold-store entrances, food-handling areas). Class I electrical protection of the internal assemblies; external protection — to local codes and by a qualified electrician.

G3 air filter (EN 779:2012)

A coarse-particle filter on the process inlet protects the rotor from dust accumulation and extends its life. The G3 class under EN 779:2012 corresponds to the old EU3 class — older datasheets and EU3-marked filters remain compatible.

Modbus RTU RS-485

BMS integration is standard, not an option. The unit appears on the facility BMS or SCADA as a Modbus slave — humidity set-point, current readings, alarm status and run-hour counters, all over RS-485 without a protocol gateway.

Frequently asked questions

Does an adsorption dehumidifier run on single-phase supply?
Yes — compact adsorption dehumidifiers are usually built for 220–230 V single-phase, unlike high-capacity industrial adsorption units that require three-phase. In the DanVex AD Compact range the AD-200 (6 A) and AD-400 (10 A) run from a standard 16 A circuit; the AD-550 (20 A) requires a 20 A rated circuit. External circuit protection (RCD type, breaker rating, conductor sizes) depends on the local electrical code and is determined by a qualified electrician. Built-in protection: Class I, IP44, certified electrical assembly to EN 60204.
Where does the moisture from an adsorption dehumidifier go?
In an adsorption dehumidifier the moisture leaves as warm humid air through the regeneration duct — not as liquid condensate. The regeneration duct is usually routed outside the building through a wall penetration or window adapter, and the moisture leaves the building. In larger facilities the regeneration exhaust can be directed into a dedicated extract system with outdoor discharge. It must not be returned to the room being dried — that cancels the work. Where an outdoor route is impossible (basements, internal rooms), the standard solution is a separate extract duct to a ventilated service space. AD Compact units are ducted by design for exactly this.
What is the maximum duct length for an adsorption unit?
The duct length of any ducted unit is set by the external static pressure of the housing fan — the higher the pressure, the longer and more complex the run. In the AD Compact range the AD-200 process fan develops 70 Pa; on the AD-400 and AD-550 — 100 Pa; the regeneration fans provide 50 Pa across the range. As a guide, that supports 5–8 m of straight duct on the AD-200 (more on the AD-400 / AD-550) or shorter runs with several bends and transitions. Longer or more complex runs may need a booster duct fan or a larger model — send us the project duct layout for review.
Do adsorption dehumidifiers need a drain?
No. Adsorption dehumidifiers remove moisture as warm vapour through the regeneration duct rather than as liquid condensate — unlike condensation units, which collect condensate and need a drain or tank. The silica-gel rotor adsorbs water vapour from the process air and releases it to the smaller regeneration stream as it passes the heater sector; that stream carries the moisture out of the building. No condensate, no tray, no drain line and no risk of a frozen drain in cold storage — one of the practical reasons adsorption became the standard technology for cold environments. AD Compact units work exactly this way.
How often should the air filter of an adsorption unit be cleaned?
Cleaning intervals are set by the dust load of the environment, not the calendar. A clean office or pharmaceutical room: every 6–12 months. A typical archive or museum: every 6 months. Dusty cold storage or a restoration environment: every 2–3 months or when visibly loaded on inspection. The filter is removed, cleaned (vacuumed or washed and dried) and refitted — the G3 filter on DanVex AD units is not a consumable. A clogged filter starves the rotor of airflow and reduces capacity before it looks clogged to the eye, so a planned schedule (quarterly inspection and at least annual cleaning) is more reliable than waiting for symptoms.
How is an adsorption dehumidifier sized?
Adsorption capacity is far more sensitive than condensation capacity to inlet temperature and humidity, the target dew point and the required airflow — which is why the room-volume rules of thumb used for condensation units are misleading here. Three inputs decide the selection: the room's ambient conditions (temperature and starting humidity), the target humidity and the required process airflow (from the room volume and air-change rate).
